What's new for v6.00.0

Welcome to PCGen v6.00.0, the latest stable release of PCGen. In this release we have introduced a new user interface and made substantial changes under the hood including hundreds of new features. The highlights of the changes for PCGen 6.0 are listed below:

Installation

Prerequisites

Java 6 or Java 7. PCGEN 6.00.0 is not compatible with Java 1.5.x and it is NOT SUPPORTED. To get the latest version of Java, go to java.com. PCGen has been tested with both Java 6 (including OpenJDK) and Java 7.

New User Interface

A major feature of PCGen 6.0 is the new user interface. While the general layout of the program will still be familiar we've made lots of enhancements along the way such as

The new user interface does not currently provide random NPC generation or LST editor functionality. These are earmarked for implementation in the future though.

Custom Data Sets

If you have custom data created using either the old LST Editor, or the my_dataset example files, it is very important that you read the Upgrading PCGen and Upgrading home brews before installing your new version of PCGen.
